Teaser Poster

What was first seen in a comic book store window last week in North Carolina, has now been confirmed as the teaser for Abrams' 1-18-08 film.

The poster, seen to the right, shows a be-headed Statue of Liberty and a disrupted wake of water leading towards Manhattan with destruction and smoke in the distance and the date at the bottom - earlier versions of this seen had the word 'Monstrous' labeled across the top of the poster.

Expect more news as Abrams is expected to divulge new details at Comic-Con this weekend.

Aliens? Flashbacks? Coney Island? Oh My...

The New York Post released an article about filming of "Cloverfield" from several weeks ago in Coney Island. It can be found here.

Paramount also announced yesterday that they won't comment on who cut the trailer. All signs seem to point to Abrams as having a personal hand in the edit of the teaser that appeared before "Transformers".

More details as they become available.

New Pic @ 1-18-08.com

A new image has popped up within the last couple of hours of more mayhem in the streets with a timestamp of 1:24am - 36 minutes later than the last one released and it appears if martial law has taken over in the streets.
With news having been slow these last couple of days this is the first new look we've had recently.

However it is being speculated that new hints and clues might be found within the History detail of the Slusho.jp website.

ABZ 3293 & Slusho

I failed to post these screencaps from the trailer the other day pertaining to my posts on the ABZ 3293 site and the Slusho website.

This is the car from the trailer, with the same license plate that this website is asking about. The other is a Slusho t-shirt one of the party-goers (the one who asks about seeing what's going on from the roof) is wearing.

Armageddon?

I'm getting a lot of emails about whether or not this film is about the end-times or destruction of Earth from a Biblical sense.

Granted there's been things to point us in that direction (the newly found Romans 1:18 website, the talk of one victim seeing a "lion" in the trailer, the number 6 being painted all over the Slusho website).
That being said there's no indication at this point that this film is indeed an Armageddon story, we have no more clues pointing us in that direction than we do that this is another Godzilla remake (with hints like Rob going to Japan and the Slusho website).

While I hope that's not the case (and if you really want to know I'd love to see Cthulu but I'm not holding out hope) we really don't have any more indication that this is a big screen adaptation of Voltron either. The best way to view all these clues and and sites and images is to take them for what they are.

It's like a 3D Magic Eye image, you can't focus on one part, you've got to look at everything and blur the image to see the big picture. So far all we have are breadcrumbs, follow the trail long enough and we'll eventually get to grandma's house.
...What?

Ethan Haas Video Messages

Whether we believe Abrams debunking Ethan Haas' involvement with 1-18-08 or not, it stands to reason that Paramount has some hand in all of this. If you've felt the urge to finish the puzzle on the website you've seen the cryptic messages, if not they're available on YouTube but God only knows for how long. Here they are in order:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=6D8Fv79KNMs
http://youtube.com/watch?v=dsmv_0WgGk0
http://youtube.com/watch?v=yfAfpyqjVEk
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Z58cEbtU3Pg

Check them out while you can, they're still interesting even if not 1-18-08 related.

New Websites?

What do www.abz3293.com and www.anti-christ.com have to do with 1-18-08?

I'm refraining from giving a lot of my own opinions on what I think is going on behind this film, basically because I don't want a flood of emails telling me how wrong I am, but more importantly because this isn't about my opinion, it's about this amazing film.

That being said I'd like to thank 'Stan38' for emailing me about these sites.

ABZ seems to be a cryptic classified, a user is searching for an New York City resident with an SUV and the license plate of ABZ 3293 - saying that this driver has a family heirloom that the user would most likely want returned.

The latter anti-christ site has an interesting header of Romans 1:18 (1-18-08?).
That verse from the Bible reads: "The wrath of God is being revealed from Heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness..."

Search the sites, see what you find. Email me or comment if you find anything odd.
What with all the shenanigans and goings-on.

New Image On 1-18-08.com

Way ahead of schedule, a new, third image has been posted on 1-18-08.com

A smoky image with 4 visible people (2 definite women and 2 others in the background) has been released. Carrying the timestamp of 12:48am, it's 17 minutes after the initial tremor from the event that causes the power to go out at Rob's going away party. It's also 12 minutes later than the first image released on the website.

More details as they become available.

Drink Slusho And Discover Secrets?

www.Slusho.jp has been discovered. Most likely one of the "sites" Abrams talked about being launched on the net - Slusho is a drink from the Abrams' (and 1-18-08 writer Drew Goddard) show "Alias".

Also good to note is that one of the characters from the film is seen wearing a Slusho t-shirt in the teaser.

Is there any secrets in this annoying website? Time will tell.

January 18, 2008 - 12:01 AM

Timestamps on the 2 photos released so far on 1-18-08.com and the news report from the movie's teaser trailer helps to reveal some sequences of action in the film, or at least the opening scenes leading to the "event" as we'll call it here.

The first timestamp (from the teaser) shows 12:31am, right after the first tremor happens and the power comes back on.

The second is from the first image on the website released after "Transformers" premiered of the 2 girls looking up to the sky: 12:36am, presumably after the group from the party goes to the rooftop to see the explosion in the city and then rushes to the street, some 5 minutes after the initial tremor from the "event".

The newest image from Rob's going away party is labeled 12:01am, exactly 30 minutes before the "event" happens and 2 minutes after it becomes January 18, 2008.
We'll observe more timestamps as they become available.

Apple has released various versions of the teaser trailer shown before "Transformers".
You can view them here.

1-18-08.com Website Update

When first released this website had a screencap made to look like a digital image from a camera of two girls from the film looking up in horror.

Updated today, the site now has a 2nd image from Rob's going away party, layered on top of the first. You're able to move the images around like a digital photo album to see both, as I'm sure you will others in the very near future, perhaps one new one a week since we're a week to the day of the release of "Transformers" and that's when the site and first pic went up.

First Entry

This site will be covering the following of the J.J. Abrams Untitled Production that has the shooting name of "Cloverfield".

You may have seen the trailer before "Transformers" of people at a going away party when disaster strikes, explosions erupt, and the head of the Statue of Liberty comes hurling at on-lookers in the New York City streets.

Whether this film be Voltron (not), Godzilla (please no), or Cthulu (yes please), I'll be covering all the related news and possible bogus reports such as the ethanhaawassright.com or ethanhaaswaswrong.blogspot.com which Abrams has debunked as film related websites:

"For what it's worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us."
- J.J. Abrams
Though this may be a clever ploy.
